Hello, I'm Charisse Arrington, brilliance coach, professional speaker, and recording artist. You know, sometimes I think about moments that I've had in my past, and I take a rear view mirror, look back. And I think to myself of, especially as it pertains to singing, getting a record deal, and writing at that time, how much I didn't know. I came there with hopes and a dream suitcase full of high hopes and $12 in my pocket, jumped off a bus, and like Mary Tyler Moore, wanted to throw my cap to the wind, and so much had happened from beginning of the deal, and leading out of the deal. When I wrote songs like Wind Me Up, and I think about Wind Me Up, and I think about how my knowledge probably could have been wound up. I'm not so sure why it came up with the lyrics that I came up with, but as I think of it as an analogy, I think about how you really have to be wound up to go after your dreams, especially when you feel as though they let you down. I had a moment where I couldn't even walk on the street where my former record label was located, because I was so devastated once my deal was done with them, I had thought that was going to be the rest of my life, and my knowledge base was, now I had to come from a different perspective, the hustle was on again, I had to go back into the grind, or decide. And one thing I learned is that nobody holds the key to our lives. You know, sometimes we think people are so powerful, and that they are the ones who have all the strings that they're pulling in our life. And so in my story, as I said, I couldn't even walk down the street, and I just had such a deep facade, I don't even know that I was realizing that I was not as in my mind as I should have been, so, when I think about knowledge I just think about, it's important to have, because it's gonna be what you need to keep you going all through your life, not just certain segments or facets of your life. So, get knowledge. It's important.
