Hi, I'm Perri Gaffney. I'm an actress and writer. And I recently, co-wrote a book with Mitch Weiss called The Business of Broadway. I moved from Cleveland, Ohio a million years ago, here to New York City to be a part of the Broadway community. I always wanted to be an actress as long as I can remember. When I was a little kid, I was gonna act and it was always gonna be in New York. And people would ask me, why? If you wanna be an actress, a lot of people go to LA for Hollywood. But I think it was because no matter what, where it was shot, it might have been shot in Hollywood, Chicago, wherever, but usually the backdrop was New York. So that was the place to be. And I always loved live theater. Because to me live theater was real acting. If you mess up on film, then all you have to do is take it again. But if you mess up on stage, you have to correct it right then in character and not throw the rest of the cast off. And not let the audience know that you just messed up. And that to me was really the height of performance. So I moved to New York and I have been an actress for, well, exclusively an actress for well over 20 years. I came here with a job at AT&T and when I decided to quit it, after five years of being here, people said, I don't think that's what you wanna do. That's a good job. You're making a lot of money. But it's not about money. And you have to believe in your pursuits. So I stepped out on faith and I've been performing ever since and writing.
